On August 26 at approximately 8:37 a.m. local time, a catastrophic flash flood struck communities in Rasuwa and Nuwakot, Nepal. Many precious lives have been lost, many people are still missing, and countless families have suddenly lost their homes, belongings, and means of living.

The situation is heartbreaking and extremely difficult. Families are frightened, vulnerable, and in urgent need of food, shelter, medical care, clean water, and basic necessities.

At DCWC Nepal, we cannot simply stand by and watch people suffer. We are working closely with local communities and preparing to mobilize volunteers, emergency relief supplies, and a medical team to reach the affected areas as quickly as possible. Our priority is to support the most vulnerable families and help those who have lost everything begin to recover.

But we cannot do this alone. We urgently need your help.

Your donation, no matter how large or small, can provide essential relief to a family who may have nothing left. Your support can help provide food to a hungry family, medical care to someone who is injured or sick, warm shelter to someone who has lost their home, and hope to people who are facing one of the darkest moments of their lives.

Following severe high-altitude flash flooding across the northern mountain valleys, particularly along the Bhote Koshi River corridor, thousands of households have been displaced, isolated, and left without access to essential services.

The floods have affected communities across 19 local levels in Rasuwa, Dhading, Nuwakot, Tanahun, and Gorkha districts. Authorities are currently collecting detailed information on the people and households affected by the disaster.

At present, a total of 2,532 flood-affected people are staying temporarily at 33 holding centers. The current distribution of displaced people includes:

Rasuwa: 825 people at 9 holding centers
Nuwakot: 1,613 people at 22 holding centers
Dhading: 94 people at 2 holding centers

Project Focus:
Immediate emergency health assistance, essential medicines, food support, sanitation, and early recovery assistance for flood-affected communities in Nuwakot and Rasuwa.

Project Objective

The project aims to provide immediate, life-saving health and humanitarian assistance to communities affected by the 2026 floods in Nuwakot and Rasuwa.

The intervention will focus on people and families who have experienced disruption to healthcare, food supplies, sanitation, and other essential services as a result of the flooding. Activities will include essential medicine support, free health camps, food distribution, and early recovery assistance.

Key Areas of Support

Emergency Healthcare
Free health camps will provide basic healthcare services to flood-affected people who may have limited access to medical facilities following the disaster.

Essential Medicines
Essential medicines will be handed over to support people who have lost regular access to healthcare and medical supplies.

Food Assistance
Essential food supplies will be distributed to selected flood-affected families facing immediate food insecurity.

Sanitation and Hygiene
Early recovery activities will support improved sanitation and hygiene practices in affected communities during the post-flood period.

Community Recovery
The project will support affected communities as they transition from immediate emergency relief toward stabilization and early recovery.

Expected Beneficiaries

The project will directly support flood-affected individuals and families in the targeted communities of Nuwakot and Rasuwa.

The planned activities include health services for up to 700 people through two free health camps, essential medicine assistance for approximately 200 people, and food support for approximately 100 families.

Priority will be given to communities and households experiencing disruption to healthcare, food security, sanitation, and other essential services following the floods.

Expected Impact

Through coordinated emergency relief and early recovery activities, the project seeks to help flood-affected communities access essential healthcare, medicines, food, and sanitation support during the critical post-disaster period.

The intervention is intended to reduce immediate health and food-related vulnerabilities while supporting affected communities in beginning their recovery and restoring access to essential services.
